OUR PROCESS

Every project, from kitchen remodel to new home build, moves through four phases – from first conversation to finished home.

Phase 1. Schematic Design

The first phase of the process, where we learn all about the client – the plans, the dreams and the inspirations. We also begin site analysis and documenting the existing home and create a preliminary concept including floor plans, elevations and a 3D model to establish the overall massing and character. We can use these drawings to obtain preliminary estimate of costs.

Phase 2. Design Development

This middle phase is where we refine the initial concept and begin drafting in greater detail. We also dive into the 3D model with more detail showing general colors, materials and cabinetry layouts to allow the client to walk through the entire space before it’s built.

Phase 3. Construction Drawings

In this final drawing phase, we finalize a complete set of drawings for construction. We expand from the Design Development phase and dive into technical architectural details of how the design will be built into a home. These details include interior elevations, cabinetry and interior millwork, windows and doors, and foundation wall connections.

Phase 4. Construction Administration

This phase is all about coordination to ensure what is shown on the drawings is what gets built in the field. We coordinate with the builder, homeowner, and various contractors and craftsmen to make the whole process go as smoothly as possible. We review shop drawings, make regular site visits, and address any question or concern that may arise.
